Limited Edition Stephen B Whatley print
Not only did guests leave with a special Omnis gift box, but they also took home a limited edition signed print of the Gallery by the talented expressionist artist Stephen B Whatley – which was specially commissioned for the launch.
Only 250 have been printed and each one was numbered and signed by Stephen himself.
Stephen is well known for his work on the Tower of London, which can be seen in the Tower Hill underpass. His work also hangs in Buckingham Palace and at the BBC and has been published in TIME magazine.
“I was delighted to be commissioned by Omnis, that so successfully provides services in all constructional aspects of architecture – a subject that has long been of great inspiration to me as an artist; and focus of my most public commissions. Omnis insightfully selected the iconic Serpentine Sackler Gallery as the subject of my oil painting: as an expressionist, my work is all about feeling, capturing the spirit as deeply as possible; so I absorbed the unique combination of the classic and contemporary design of the building, by making a series of drawings on location outside the gallery – which then inspired the interpretation on canvas.
It was an honour to return to the gallery, for the impressive Omnis Launch evening – to ‘enter’ into the painting and surreally see it on show within the magnificent interior and atmosphere Omnis created for the Launch Event. My thanks to John Cowley, CEO, Sarah-Jayne Whitworth & Angela Wright for their sincere appreciation of my work.”
Stephen B Whatley, London, May 2015.
