1500m2 of Omnis’ Ziplok standing seam profile, in mill finish stucco embossed aluminium, have been used on the Swaythling development in Eastleigh, Hampshire, featuring a pair of ‘hockey stick’ curves on the L-shaped design. These are long lengths of profiled sheet with a very tight radius at one end.

The Ziplok sheets, mostly 14m long, were rolled in the factory then smooth curved and crimped on site, using our dedicated equipment. The valley gutters and supports, together with the bullnose fascias in powder coated aluminium, were then all templated on site to ensure a perfect finish to the striking roof structure.

Top sheets were supported on our Corogid bar and bracket system, which allows the halter pitch to be varied to cope with the tight radii, on top of a 20/100/1000 fully sealed liner sheet. The system also included acoustic insulation to mitigate against the aircraft noise from nearby Eastleigh Airport.

Roofing contractors for the project were Southern Industrial Roofing for main contractors Dean and Dyball. Architects were Sherlock Boswell of Southampton.
